Dear Friends and Fellow Residents,
I am writing to you to announce my candidacy for re-election to the Shrewsbury School Committee. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve for the past six years. The experience I have gained over the past six years, including serving as the Chair of the committee for two of them, will better enable me to continue to affect positive change in our school district.
The Shrewsbury Public Schools continue to be good fiscal stewards of the taxpayer’s investment in education. However, it has become increasingly difficult due to legal mandates and inflationary costs. Inadequate funding has resulted in increased class sizes, as well as reductions in programming and instructional materials. Student success is always my first priority, and our district has consistently looked to increase student achievement while striving in the most cost effective and efficient manner possible to deliver services. I will remain diligent to this mission, and I am committed to maintaining Shrewsbury’s tradition of excellence in education.
My education, professional background in dispute resolution, and volunteer roles in the schools and in the community provide me with a solid foundation that allows me to evaluate the priorities of our schools and community. The past six years has given me the opportunity to analyze the school budget and work effectively with school personnel and community members, as well as elected officials in Shrewsbury and at the state level, to understand and respond to the challenges faced by our schools. I will listen to the concerns of all members of our community, partner with all stakeholders and work diligently to obtain the necessary level of funding to provide all students with the best possible education.
I would be honored to continue to serve you and the students of Shrewsbury Public Schools as a member of the Shrewsbury School Committee. Please feel free to contact me at email@example.com or at (508) 842-7522.
Please support me in my campaign for re-election and vote for me on Tuesday, May 6th.
